Sheet material custom-made for your laser cutter
Laser-ready sheet materials, what are they actually? Good question! Laser-ready sheet materials are materials that have been specially selected, tested, and/or customized to be processed safely, efficiently, and with high quality using a laser cutter or laser engraving machine. They are literally "ready for the laser." We only grant this certification to materials that meet the following requirements.
-Suitable for laser cutting and/or engraving
No harmful fumes or melting behavior that could damage the machine or the material.
-Consistent quality and composition
No surprises during cutting — no adhesive layers or coatings that react poorly to the laser.
-Clean cutting lines and minimal discoloration
The material can be cut neatly and sharply, without burning or fraying.
-Suitable dimensions and thicknesses
Fits well on standard laser tables and is almost entirely flat and not too thick.
Are there any exceptions to these guidelines?
In principle, we do not deviate from these guidelines; however, it can happen that a material partially does not meet one of these guidelines because it is unique within its class or due to the intrinsic properties of the material. For example, Okoume plywood has slightly darker edges than you would expect from comparable plywood, but it is the only waterproof glued plywood. Additionally, very thin plywood sheets, such as aircraft plywood, can sometimes warp over large surfaces, simply due to the nature of the production process combined with the material properties. This warping can easily be remedied by weighing down the material with weights or clips in the machine!
If there is anything unusual or specific considerations regarding a material, we will mention it explicitly, so you won't be caught off guard.
