Rubber-like or foam-like material?

Start with the function of the part. If you are looking for a rubber sheet for parts that need to bend, or for stamps, seals, and flexible shapes, look first at Silicone rubber, Laser Rubber, or Neoprene foam rubber. If you are mainly looking for a softer or firmer foam for inlays, protection, packaging, or creative shapes, compare EVA foam, PE rigid foam, and PE soft foam.

Differences within rubber

Silicone rubber is supple and elastic and fits designs where cutting or engraving is central. Laser Rubber is a flexible grey rubber sheet specifically developed for stamps and engraving applications. Neoprene foam rubber is flexible and closed-cell; choose it when moisture resistance and a rubbery foam are important. Within rubber, you primarily choose based on application, surface, color, and desired flexibility.

Differences within foam

EVA foam feels soft and light. It works well when flexibility and a softer appearance are important. PE rigid foam is denser and firmer, and is the more obvious choice for protective inlays or tighter foam shapes. PE soft foam has a softer and more comfortable structure. Check per product which thicknesses and sizes are available, because foam materials are strongly chosen based on thickness and application.

Laser compatibility varies by material type and composition. Only work with materials of known composition and follow the safety and extraction instructions of your laser machine.
